5 Best Baby Sleep Items: Splurge Vs. Save Edition
Having a baby soon or know someone having a baby soon? Baby sleep items are always a big question for parents to be. I have already compiled a list of what every new momma needs, but read this splurge vs save list!
With so many baby products on the market, it can be so hard to decide which items to go for. We all know sleep is so important to babies development and parents sanity, so finding items that will help your baby sleep is KEY! With such a wide range of products and prices, does a higher price tag always mean the better product?
Not always!
Below I will list two amazing products and all they offer, one will a smaller price tag and one that is higher end.
1.Bassinet: Halo Swivel Sleeper Vs. Snoo Bassinet
Halo Swivel Sleeper ($239.99) This is the bassinet that I used for both boys and loved! It was easy to adjust to fit the height to make it easy for me to get them out from my bed, and the easy fold down side just added to that ease! The mattress is thin, but firm so I did not worry about either of them while they were sleeping in it. Although it includes buttons for a light, vibration, and soothing sounds, I did not end up using any of them.
Snoo Bassinet ($1,395) This seems to be the "IT" bassinet among parents now. This is because it has more automated features such as responding to cries with motion and white noise. It meets all safety standards, and includes an app to track babies sleep.
2.Crib Mattress: Serta Vs. Newton
Serta Crib Mattress ($62) This is the mattress used for Baby O, and he has never had a problem! It is free of toxins, and the perfect firmness where I was never concerned he would have trouble breathing while sleeping on his stomach (his preferred way to sleep since he was about 5 mos!). It's also waterproof, which is huge when dealing with an infant or a toddler!
Newton Crib Mattress ($299.99) This mattress boasts on innovative breathe-through technology that aids in air flow, and can regulate temperatures to prevent overheating. The biggest difference is that the whole mattress is 100% washable at home, which again is great when talking about infants and toddlers!
3.Sound Machine: Dohm Vs. Hatch
Dohm Sound Machine($27.99) Again, this is what we use at home! We have 3, one in each of the boys rooms, and one in the hallway in between their rooms. I love that it is able to adjust the sound to make it as loud or quiet as needed, and small enough to be portable that they are super easy to pack and move when the boys are sleeping away from home.
Hatch Sound Machine ($89.99) This machine does it all! Sound machine, night light, awake clock, audio monitor and LED clock. From clients who have the Hatch, I have only heard great things!
4.Blackout Shades: Blackout EZ Vs. Spring blinds
Blackout EZ Shades ($32) These are super easy to use! They Velcro onto any window frame to make it easy for them to come on and off (I love opening the shades in the morning to signal it's the start of a new day!). Super easy to install and no tool required!! They come in black and white, and can be customized to fit any window size.
Spring blinds ($72.99) These are a bit different as they are roller shades so they always stay on the wall, you just roll them up when you want to introduce light into the room. While tools are required, it says that its just two easy brackets to install. I do not own this set so I cannot say how easy they may or not be to install! These can also be customized, but come in a couple more colors than the EZ shades do.
5.Swaddle: SwaddleMe Vs. Happiest Baby Sleepea
SwaddleMe original swaddle (3 pack): ($34.99) One of my favorites! A classic swaddle is perfect as babies really do sleep better when replicated how they slept in the womb. A nice swaddle can be the difference between a baby drifting off to sleep and an overtired baby struggling to fall asleep. I love that this comes in a three pack because lets be real - between late night spit-up and pee accidents, you will go through multiple!
Happiest Baby Sleepea single swaddle ($22.50) Although I didn't use this swaddle with either of my boys, it was listed as NY Times "#1 baby swaddle" so of course it needed a mention! There is an inner band inside the fabric of the swaddle that is supposed to make baby more secure, less likely to startle themselves awake, and be "escape proof". Because it is 100% cotton and has breathable mesh windows, it also keeps baby cool while sleeping.
Although all of these products are amazing towards helping baby fall asleep and stay asleep, none will help if a little one doesn't have great independent sleep skills!
